Big-Island-Nene-Goose

The Nene, also known as Nēnē or Hawaiian Goose, is endemic to the Hawaiian Islands. The official bird of the state of Hawaiʻi, the Nene is exclusively found in the wild on the islands of Maui, Molokai, Kauaʻi and Hawaiʻi. It is the world's rarest goose: in 1952 there were only 30 birds but successful captive breeding programs have brought the population to about 2000.
